Who is the San Antonio Area Chapter of
the American Red Cross?

The San Antonio Area Chapter was founded in 1916 to provide support and assistance to the military stationed in and around San Antonio. Ninety three years later, our Chapter serves 2.4 million people in 23 counties across South Central Texas from our headquarters in San Antonio and our 3 branch offices in New Braunfels, Del Rio, and Laredo. We have 5 areas of service: Service to the Armed Forces (SAF), Disaster Services (DS), Health and Safety Services (H&S), Volunteer and Youth Services, and International Services.

Why should you volunteer for
the American Red Cross and seek training?

Many people do not realize that the American Red Cross is made up of a 97% volunteer staff.  We need YOU to join our volunteer ranks and become a member of our team to ensure our services are always available in time of need.  The aid we provide to our community through Health and Safety, Service to the Armed Forces and Disaster training is invaluable in preparing our neighborhoods for the unexpected.

What Classes are we offering during the
Training Institute on March 22-27, 2010?

We have organized the Disaster Training into three different training tracks.  Each of these tracks provides all needed prerequisites for an Advanced Disaster Class held towards the end of the week.  If you have some of the prerequisites already, feel free to mix classes in to your schedule from different tracks!  In addition, we are offering a review course for all currently certified CPR/AED and Standard First Aid personnel to renew their certification.  Finally, we are proud to bring “Principles of Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) Casework” to the San Antonio Area Chapter.
